The unit has two operating modes so you always have full suction. Auto mode detects your sweep and turns on by itself, and manual mode runs when you tap the button with your foot. Both modes pull crumbs, pet hair, and dust straight inside while you stand upright. Manual mode is also useful if you want the unit to stay quiet when kids or pets walk past the sensor.
